Description and Adaptation

Pronghorns upper part and legs are tan and its belly is white. Pronghorns eyes are set on the side of its head so it can look behind as well as in front. They do not have dewclaws on its legs like like other antelopes. Does horns are the size of its ear when male pronghorns horns are twice the size of its ear. On the side of each cheek it has a black spot or oval and there is as short black mane. The pronghorns weight is around 70-140 lb. To survive this animal is the fastest long distance runner in the world and this speed helps it escape predators.

Habitat, Landforms and Climate

The pronghorn lives in open spaces and avoids forests and other closed in spaces. Pronghorn are found southern Alberta, Saskatchewan and down into the north of Mexico. The climate in the interior plains is extreme with very little precipitation. the rivers are in the south west of this region and low mountains are in the south east.

Relationships with Other Species

The pronghorn is a herbivore and eats sagebrush and shrubs in the winter and in summer it eats snowbrush and rabbitbrush. The pronghorn has predators like bobcats and coyotes but mostly escapes them leaving them in the dust.
